While many of Hollywood’s brightest stars were gearing up for this year’s Golden Globes, others were soaking in the sounds of one of music’s greats, at the Art of Elysium’s 10th anniversary “Heaven” event.
On January 7th, Stevie Wonderwas honored as the night’s “Visionary,” annually selected for their creative contribution to the community. Each year, the “Visionary” is responsible for curating the night’s artistic installation. Past honorees include artist Shepard Fairey and singer Linda Perry. Last year’s black tie affair celebrated fashion designer Vivienne Westwood, with celebs like Johnny Depp and Juliette Lewisin attendance.
The Art of Elysium was started two decades ago, with a mission to empower emerging artists and communities of need, to join together and emotionally triumph over their circumstances, through art. Their programs are focused on supporting people in the midst of challenging times like illness, crisis and hospitalizations, by providing various creative tools and environments, in hopes that they will find happiness and liberation.
The Art of Elysium offers some incredible opportunities to give back, with programs focused in the Visual Arts, Fashion Design, Music, Media and Theatre. The next orientation for “Volunteer Artists” will be held on January 23rd in Los Angeles.
The organization has fundraising activities all year round. One that everyone can participate in is their shopfunding campaign on Goodshop.
