Universal Studios, Hollywood has a new attraction and it’s not a ride although it does cause a distraction from
reality. Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville, had its grand opening Thursday at Universal CityWalk. At 5 O’Clock, Universal City Walk toasted the official opening of the restaurant and marked the occasion with an exciting performance by best-selling author, singer and songwriter, Jimmy Buffett and the Coral Reefer Band.
Hundreds of Parrotheads and fans joined in the celebration that also marked the first-ever Margaritaville restaurant to open in California.
Margaritaville features nine destination resorts/hotel across the Southeast US and Caribbean and eight additional locations in active development; four gaming locations; and more than 60 food and beverage locations including signature concepts such as Margaritaville Restaurant, award-winning JWB Prime Steak and Seafood, 5 o’clock Somewhere Bar & Grill and LandShark Bar & Grill, among others.
This global brand which first launched in Key West, Fla. in 1987 was inspired by the music of Buffett and the tropical escapism, relaxation, and passion it evoked with his fans. Margaritaville is more than a restaurant, it’s a state of mind as the spirited new venue brings a seaside retreat to Universal CityWalk that continues to resonate as one of L.A.’s most influential lifestyle centers.
“I walked onto the site of CityWalk when it was still under construction, and my first thought was ‘I want a Margaritaville here.’” Jimmy Buffett said. “Thanks to the great folks at Universal, we made it. It’s a great play at the opening and I look forward to visiting regularly on my journeys to the West Coast. Fins Up!”
This new CityWalk location, invites guest to escape their everyday life as they dine in a casual environment with palm trees, island music, live music and entertainment, hand-crafted drinks and mouthwatering food. Servers at the grand opening walked around offering entrées of mini cheeseburgers, shrimp, jambalaya, carne asada, and more to guest; giving a taste of all the delicious food to come, once a full menu is given. As for the margarita drinks offered at the 5 o’clock bar; incredible and delicious! A well balance of flavor and liquor that is refreshing and quenches the thirst. However, if the tequila in margaritas is not your favorite they would be more than happy to cater to your taste and substitute the liquor for one of your choosing, as the bar manager told us at the event.
Margaritaville’s motto is: “It’s 5 o’clock somewhere” and if this has you thinking that this restaurant is not family friendly, you have nothing to worry about because it is. Just like any other restaurant that serves alcoholic beverages, identification to prove that you are of legal drinking age will need to be provided if you wish to order from the bar. No reservations will be required to eat at Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville, simply walk in, order and be taken away to a tropical destination, courtesy of their incredible staff who aid in providing a fun and exciting experience to all guest.
