Titans fall to 0-2 on the Season

Titans baseball loses their second game of the year on Saturday in their three-game series versus the Cardinal of Stanford University 3-5 at Sunken Diamond.

Fullerton has now lost two games out of their three game series against Stanford, cementing a winning record for Stanford no matter what happens on Sunday. A late rally by the Titans looked promising, but was too little too late as they would come up two runs short of tying the ball game.

The Titans struggles to hold off the Cardinal from the jump continued on Saturday, as they allowed four earned runs in the second inning alone. They have lacked the energy needed to keep Stanford at bay in order to keep the game close going into the later innings. They would battle back, as the Titans scored a run each in the fifth, seventh, and eighth innings to bring the score back up to 3-5 but it was not enough.

Chris Prescott and Daniel Cope were the two silver linings for Fullerton as they both had multi-hit performances. Prescott went 2-for-3 with a double and tacked on a score, while Cope also put together a 2-for-3 for day with an RBI and a run scored. Freshman second baseman, Tyler Lasch also picked up his first two hit of his college career, going 2-of-4 with a double.

Andrew Quezada (0-1) made his collegiate pitching debut for Fullerton, but unfortunately also took his first loss while throwing for 5.1 innings, and giving up five earned runs off of seven hits for Stanford; striking out four hitters. Stanford’s Kris Bubic (1-0) earned the win for the Cardinal, by only giving up one earned run off of three hits in the 5.0 innings he was in the ball game.

The Titans will look to gain their first win of the season in the last game of their series against Stanford, today at 1 pm PT.
